Taking
herbs, vitamins and natural bee products like royal
jelly may improve your health and vitality, and provide your
body with a safe and natural resistance against common
ailments.
Many
people are embracing the effect of herbs and natural
products on longevity (anti aging), and are taking health
supplements to promote a healthier and longer life.
Herbs
and a wide range of herbal remedies have been used through
the ages to prevent and cure certain ailments and
diseases. Many third world cultures who do not have access
to modern medicinal treatments, use herbs as their only
means of protection against disease. Medicinal
plants and herbs contain substances that are known to
modern and ancient civilizations for their healing
properties. Until the modern era's development of
Chemistry and the research into organic compounds,
medicinal plants and herbs have been the primary source of
treating, curing and prevention of man's ailments.
Nowadays, modern pharmaceuticals are formulated using the
same principals be they natural or synthetic. Nutraceutical
products are formulated using compounds or 'blends' of
common herbs, vitamins and minerals, to provide potent and
'focused' benefits for specific health conditions.
Despite
all this the
use of herbs is still somewhat debated amongst health
professionals, many of whom will not acknowledge their
benefits to human health. There may be several reasons for
this, not least the lack of desire to promote health
treatments that cost just a few dollars per month, ahead
of prescription medication that costs many times more. Also,
perhaps because of the abundance of most natural herbs,
medical researchers have sought to evaluate drugs and
potential sources of medication that are more esoteric and
rare. Recently however, researchers in Istanbul have taken
part in experiments to determine possible health benefits
of natural bee products, such as Honey and Royal Jelly.
This step has already revealed some remarkable results,
more of which is covered here. The
Food and Drug administration still in most cases do not
endorse herbs, nor do they
allow the promotion of most herbs as having 'medicinal
value'. Despite the worldwide use of popular single herbs
like St. Johns Wort, Ginseng, Saw Palmetto and Kava
for ailments and as preventions against stress, the
promotion of energy, prostate and urinary tract health and
the promotion of calmness and general well-being, the FDA
still disallows health references when talking about
herbs. Like
any item that is ingested, there may be some negative side
effects with herbal products. Generally a very small
percentage of people have a negative reaction to herbs or
any other natural supplement, and the reactions are
generally low risk and reversible by ceasing to ingest the
product. Perhaps the one exception is with Royal Jelly,
where it is claimed certain severe allergic reactions may
in a small number of cases have resulted in death. If
you suffer form any severe allergies or other medical
symptoms, or are taking prescription medication, it is
always wise to consult with your M.D or holistic
practitioner before taking health supplements. We
are not allowed to make specific recommendations about
your health, or what supplements to take for a certain
condition that you might have. If you have specific health
